Even in his last moments, he makes a wager with Gi-hun about the life of another person. It became the ultimate source of entertainment for them. Il-nam and his clients or the VIPs betted against each other for their favorite contestants. So, to experience his creation from the other side of the glass, he decided to participate in the game, leaving his owl mask behind and wearing the No. They were desperate enough to do anything, including playing a series of deadly children’s games. They knew that these people didn’t have any other options because of their financial situation. This is likely why he, Front Man, and the recruiters chose Gi-hun and the others. And even after knowing what it is, most of them chose to come back to play it.
